What is Archaeology Month?

Archaeology Month was started fourteen years ago as a means to promote public awareness of the importance of Washington's cultural resources. The Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) and other participants will be sponsoring educational events in local communities throughout Washington. See the DAHP link below for additional information and event listings.

ERCI's 2006 Archaeology Month Event

As part of Archaeology month ERCI, the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group, and the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe sponsored an evening of presentations on Puget Sound archaeology. Participants included both professionals and children from the surrounding community. The children, along with ERCI, spent the previous month preparing by exploring such archaeological techniques as mapping, experimental cooking, data collection, and literature research.
